God or No god

Well we got supper simmering in the pan, a simple combination of gold potatoes, celery, bell pepper, onions, and mushrooms with ground turkey and mushroom soup. with a pot of sticky rice warming next to it. It may not sound like much of a summertime meal. But with meat hovering at around $8 a pound, you do what you can do with the cheapest cuts.

After a day and a weekend deciding between what groceries to buy, how much gas to put in the car, and buying medicine, this land of plenty is starting to look like a land of the privileged few. While the rest of “us” blame everybody but ourselves for the mess we are in. And before any of you get on your high horses and complain away, let’s all be grateful we still live in a land where we politely tolerate each other for now.

But don’t worry your “revolution” is coming soon enough. But what it is that none of you realize is that it was never about white, black, tan, or yellow. It’s about rich and poor, and we already know who’s running the world, and it ain’t your broke ass or mine.

Ever since Lords and Land Barons ruled the ground, they have depended on a lower caste to keep the machine greased and running, and we have let them. But maybe it’s about time for us to start thinking as a team again with a common goal. To survive and prosper. Fighting the poor to feed the rich is about as passe as taxation without representation.

Let’s take back the power we have given away for the past half-century and bring a little balance back to the books. Many of you will say, this sounds like a revolution and that’s fine. But it was our slave owning forefathers that wrote the words “all were created equal”. So it’s about time we lived up to those ideals. No matter the color of your skin, the gender you identify with, the person you love, or the dollars in your pocket. We are all equal, we are all free. God or no god.
